Boyd Merrill

Boyd Merrill retired for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) after 30 years of service. Prior to joining the RCMP he worked for 5 years as a full-time Correctional Youth Counselor /Officer while he attended university full time. In addition to specialized policing duties, he served as an elected RCMP Labour Relations Representative. Boyd spent years assisting others with serious problems including mental health issues – some of those in mental crisis.

Dermot (Derm) Flynn

Dermot (Derm) Flynn has had a very distinguished career on the Island and in Labrador. He spent 32 years in municipal government – eight years as mayor and deputy mayor of Wabush and 24 years as mayor and deputy mayor of Appleton. He was the president of the Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador from 1999 to 2000 and was the Chair of the Waste Management Advisory Committee which informed the development of the Provincial Solid Waste Management Strategy.
