First Formation & President
The Association was formed in 1956 as the Newfoundland Accident Prevention Association (NAPA). The first president of the association was Mr. C.V. Hancock, Commissioner, Workmen’s Compensation Board.
The Newfoundland & Labrador Occupational Health & Safety Association was formed in 1956, as the Newfoundland Accident Prevention Association. The founders were representatives of organizations, largely businesses’ and industrial companies, operating within the province and paying assessments to the Workmen’s Compensation Board.
Today, we endeavour to continue supporting our members in a way that is sensitive to the current employment climate and the unique needs presented by our members.
